The Better Life

(An excerpt from "The life of Horace Mann)
Mann, Horace, and Mary Tyler Peabody Mann. "Chapter III Journal." Life of Horace Mann, 614. 1st ed. Vol. 1. Boston: Lee and Shepard, 1806.

The author of the book Life of Horace Mann was Mann's wife. This book was written to inform readers about Horace and also what he did to change education. This excerpt talks about how Horace wanted to change the common school and give every child an equal opportunity to be educated. This excerpt and the book gives a clear picture of the event. The author was on Horace's side agreeing that all kids should have a good education. The author isn't trying to convince us of anything it was more of just an informational book about Horace's life.
